A dock doesn’t appear.
Open the overview in the settings: it explains why a dock is hidden, for example because its display is disconnected or the macOS Dock occupies its edge. Check that the dock is turned on. Docks of a disconnected display return when it is connected again.

A dock only shows up at the edge.
Automatic hiding is on, for this dock or for all of them. Each dock can stay visible, hide automatically or follow the general setting. The delay before a hidden dock appears goes from 0 to 2 seconds.

Docks disappear in full screen.
Choose how docks behave next to a full-screen app: hidden until full screen ends, hidden but revealed at their edge, or visible over the app. Each dock follows this rule or uses its own.

Magic Switch doesn’t move a window.
Magic Switch works with apps that are already running: click one in the dock of the display you want. It needs the Accessibility permission; the settings show whether it is granted and link to System Settings.
In detail: Magic Switch ›, Permission status and guidance ›
Window previews show only titles.
With the Accessibility permission but without Screen Recording, previews show window titles instead of pictures. Pictures need Screen Recording and titles need Accessibility, so without both permissions no preview appears at all. The settings name missing permissions and paused picture requests; if macOS stops delivering pictures, you can try again.

The macOS Dock is in the way.
In the direct edition, hide the macOS Dock while Dock Ultimate runs; a button brings it back right away. The settings show where the macOS Dock was detected. If its edge cannot be detected reliably, give a hint: Automatic, Left, Bottom or Right.

The wrong layout loaded.
A preset loads about two seconds after a display connects or disconnects if it is linked to that display setup. Undo the last load from the menu bar icon, check the links in Presets, or let Dock Ultimate ask before each automatic load.

An item is marked as missing.
The app or file is no longer where the dock expects it. Opening the item tells you what is missing or changed. Remove the entry and add the item again from its new place.
In detail: Identify missing items ›, Remove dock items ›, Add apps, folders and files ›
A setting changed by mistake.
Undo changes in Settings with Command–Z and redo them with Shift–Command–Z. Appearance, Behaviour and Windows can each go back to their defaults, and an import can be undone.

Dock Ultimate doesn’t start at login.
Turn on starting at login in the settings. If macOS refuses the registration, the page explains the problem and points to Login Items in System Settings.
In detail: Open at login ›
You can’t find the settings.
Click the menu bar icon; Settings… is at the top of its menu. If you turned the icon off, open Dock Ultimate again from Finder or Spotlight.

The docks are hidden after the trial.
When the trial ends, the docks are hidden and your settings are kept. The license window shows how to unlock the app: enter your license key there. Check Again asks the license server right away.
In detail: Trial ending and expiry notices ›, Trial and license status ›, Recheck the license ›, Activate a direct edition license ›
Contact support
Dock Ultimate keeps its recent messages and can copy or save a support report with the version, displays, settings and messages. The report can contain names and file paths, so read it before you send it; the app never sends it by itself. Never include your license key.
