Dock Ultimate asks for the permission a feature needs. Here is what each one is for, what works without it and how to take it back.
With Accessibility, Dock Ultimate finds the windows of other apps and can move them or change their size. Magic Switch, a chosen display for new windows, keeping windows clear of docks and the window switcher need it; the notification counters from the macOS Dock are read this way too. These features are in the direct edition only.

Screen Recording is for preview pictures of windows when you rest the pointer on an app icon. The pictures stay briefly in your Mac’s memory; they are neither saved nor sent, and no audio is recorded. Without it, previews show window titles if Accessibility is granted; the window switcher does not need it.

With Automation, Dock Ultimate sends commands to another app; macOS asks for each app separately. Emptying the Trash from its context menu after you confirm controls Finder. The playback buttons in a window preview of Music or Spotify control that app and name the current track; they belong to the direct edition.

Place docks at the edges of every display, fill them with apps, files and folders, open them with a click and let several docks share one list.

Hide a running app or bring it back, quit it, show an item in Finder or open all apps of a group at once.

Hide the macOS Dock while Dock Ultimate runs or let Dock Ultimate step aside, save presets and export your setup to a file.

Activating a license sends the key and a random device ID to the license server, not your Mac’s serial number. After that, a purchased license asks for its status by itself at every launch and then, while the app runs, at most once every 24 hours: the app sends the signed license receipt (product, license ID, random device ID) and a one-time request number, not the key. Without a connection the saved state stays, so the license works offline; if the server reports it as revoked, it no longer counts. Check Again asks the server right away.

A running trial is checked online when the app starts and at least every four hours.

While the app runs, it checks for updates once a day. The check sends no dock settings, device ID or version number. An update is downloaded and verified before it is installed; installing by itself is off by default.

The weather tile is part of the direct edition. Nothing is sent before you agree. For the place search the city name goes to Apple; with every update the coordinates of the chosen place go to MET Norway (api.met.no), which sees your IP address. No GPS. You agree in the location picker or in the tile. The “Allow weather data transfer” switch in the General settings takes the consent back and stops running requests; the switches in System Settings do not.

Preview pictures are neither saved nor sent. The support report contains only the app version, build, macOS version and a random error reference. After previewing it, you can copy, save or open the same text in an email draft; the app never sends it by itself.

The settings of Dock Ultimate name the permissions a feature needs, show whether each one is granted and open the right place in System Settings. Features that cannot work without a permission are labeled with the reason.

In System Settings › Privacy & Security, open Accessibility or Screen Recording and turn off the entry for Dock Ultimate. Under Automation, Dock Ultimate has one switch for each app it may control, such as Finder; turn off that switch. You can grant the permission again later at the same place.
