Set up Dock Ultimate in eight steps
From the first launch to your own arrangement. Each step links to the feature behind it.
Steps
Open Dock Ultimate.
Download the app, move it to Applications and open it. The welcome screen explains how Dock Ultimate works alongside the macOS Dock and offers to start it when you log in.

Place your docks.
In the settings, the overview shows your displays as they are arranged. Click a free edge to add a dock there, one per edge, or choose the display and edge in the inspector.

Fill them.
Copy the readable items of your macOS Dock into a list, or drag apps, files and folders from Finder into a dock. Drag an item to change its place.

One list or several.
Several docks can share one list, so a change appears in all of them. Give a dock its own list when it should show something else.

Decide about the macOS Dock.
The direct edition can hide the macOS Dock while Dock Ultimate runs; when you quit, the previous state returns. If you keep it, Dock Ultimate can step aside at the edge it occupies.

Grant permissions where needed.
Some features need a macOS permission: Magic Switch needs Accessibility, preview images of windows need Screen Recording. The settings show the status of each permission and link to the right place in System Settings.

Keep your setup.
Save the arrangement in one of three named preset slots and link a preset to a display setup, so it loads by itself. Export everything to a file, for example for a second Mac.

Activate and stay up to date.
After buying, enter the license key from your purchase email in the license window. Check for updates in General settings or from the menu bar icon; the app downloads, verifies and installs an update it finds.
